I needed excellent teachers to get where I am today – and so did every published, award-winning book author you’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.
Many years ago I enrolled in some of the best academic institutions in Australia, and completed my master’s degree in creative writing at UTS, Sydney, which featured a heavy focus on editing. I was mentored personally by authors with PhDs in creative writing and decades of publishing experience.
This landed me a magazine and book editing career and the creation of HeartWriting. Today, I write short stories and books, I’ve ghostwritten books for some big names, and I teach others how to achieve success with their writing, while remaining close to their truth, voice, and heart.
For writers needing a 1–1 project strategy session with Rose. This one hour Zoom call is designed to give you a devoted hour of creative awakening, tools, and a strategy to move forward — no matter the creative project or block.
Most of all, I help clients find and practise their authentic authorial voice in their writing – so that their writing can truly resonate, touch hearts, and make change in the world.
Afterwards, I’ll send you our notes, a selection of resources (tailored to your needs), and I’ll edit 1000 of your words, with feedback and structural/ developmental advice.
As you know, writing, editing and refining a manuscript is a huge job. After working on my own processes, and working with hundreds of writers over the last five years, I’ve finally nailed the best way to go about it.
We work through intentionally, chapter by chapter.
I am honest, constructive, and heart-led.
We don’t rush to a 6-month deadline; our focus is on quality before quantity. The first few months of working together sets up the success of the whole project, and gives us a better idea of how long project completion will take.
I empower my writers by teaching them every skill I’ve been taught by the many lecturers and editors I’ve worked with. This is not about me ‘cleaning up’ your work. This is about working with writers who truly want to learn from this process.
This is why I only work with writers who are willing to complete my level 1 course first, regardless of how much study you have done in creative writing. I have a specific curriculum that is invaluable for writers of any level, and helps me to explain each concept to you by referring to specific lessons, resources and tasks.
The book mentoring package provides lifetime access to this course, so that you can watch and re-watch the lessons as you need – as well as monthly editing, structured feedback, resources, WhatsApp voice mentoring, and one Zoom call per semester.
Each month you will receive detailed feedback for one piece of writing of up to 3000 words (1 –2 chapters of a novel, a short story, or several articles).
